Salt therapy

Salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, has been used by monks for centuries. In Europe, salt caves were used to cure respiratory conditions and skin diseases, for example, but the mind was also energised in such caves. Modern practitioners also prescribe salt therapy as an adjunctive treatment for COPD and asthma, for example. Natural salt can be very effective in curing these diseases and can even be used with great success in the treatment of other chronic diseases.
It was discovered in the early 19th century that workers in salt mines did not suffer from lung disease. During the Second World War, many people were forced to hide in salt mines as shelters, and this phenomenon was also observed in their case.
After several studies in the 1950s proved the benefits of halotherapy, more and more halotherapy chambers were set up, mainly in Eastern Europe. Therapeutic treatments started in Praid/Parajd in the 1960s.
