In the days of the Tatar invasion, the Szeklers from Ciuc donned masks to resemble the devil, scaring them and thus defeating the invaders. The remembrance of these events is preserved at Vérkápolna - The Bloody Chapel and at Ördöglik - The Hole of the Devils.

The Székelytámadt fortress was built by the prince John Sigismund after he defeated the Szeklers' rebellion. There was a monastery on the site of the fortress, but the Catholic monks were banished by the Protestant ruler.

Giants lived in the triple fortress, Haromvár. A young giant took a man into the fortress, but his father ordered him to take him back, because the time would come when men would reign over the earth. A dragon lived around and kidnapped the daughter of the lord of the fortress.
