Traditional Szekler Mangalica Pig Slaughter – The Way We Do It
Would you like to take part in an exclusive, private Mangalica pig slaughter experience, discover the traditions of Szekler pig slaughtering and taste our delicious dishes prepared with premium-quality ingredients?
A family-friendly experience and team-building programme filled with memorable moments. The full-day event also offers local accommodation upon request.
A day dedicated to traditions, delicious food and spending time together — just as it has always been in our village.
Group size: Minimum 10, maximum 18 people
Programme
1. Mangalica pig slaughter (from approximately 7:00 AM)
- Traditional welcome pálinka (one shot per adult), hot tea and coffee
- Slaughtering, scalding, singeing and cleaning
- Butchering the Mangalica pig
2. Breakfast (from approximately 10:00 AM)
- Mangalica lard bread and pâté bread
- Pálinka (one shot per adult), tea and Homoród mineral water
3. Preparation and processing (from approximately 11:00 AM)
- Participate in preparing and processing the Mangalica pork
- Optional farm visit and introduction to the breed
4. Late lunch/dinner (from approximately 7:00 PM)
- Cabbage-brine soup and pálinka (one shot per adult)
- Traditional Mangalica dishes, such as lesi pecsenye, roasted blood pudding, liver and sausages
