“Ákovita” International Distillate and Brandy Competition

The Szekler Farmers' Association, in partnership with the National Pálinka Council, the institutions of Harghita County and the city of Miercurea Ciuc/Csíkszereda, as well as numerous professional organizations and companies, launched the ÁKOVITA International Distillate and Pálinka Competition in 2021 in Miercurea Ciuc/Csíkszereda, Transylvania.

In 2025, the story of Ákovita continues.

The primary goal of the competition is to promote the cultured consumption of distillates and pálinka in Transylvania, with a special focus on centuries-old traditions and modern quality standards. Participants receive detailed feedback on the sensory characteristics of their submitted samples, provided by highly experienced international judges. The competition also aims to support the business category by enhancing marketing tools and commercial opportunities, while encouraging high-quality production among individual participants.
