About
The Ciuc Chamber Orchestra Association announces a guitar evening. On February 3, the Cinema Csíki Mozi will be the first venue of the concert series of the invited musician, guitarist from Bucharest Costin Soare, where he will select from the literature of the emblematic instruments of the Renaissance era, the lute and the vihuela.
The performance "Songs, Fancies and Dances" is a musical journey through England, France, Spain, Italy and Hungary, with the works of the most important composers of the time: from John Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, who served in the court of Queen Elizabeth I, to the Hungarian lute player Valentin Bakfark, born in Brașov, whom the Poles called Orpheus Pannoniae, the spanish vihuela players such as Luis Milán, Alonso Mudarra, or Luys de Narváez, nicknamed Il Divino, and the Italian Francesco da Milano.
Music lovers from Miercurea Ciuc, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Brașov and Sfântu Gheorghe have the opportunity to listen to famous songs of the time, such as Flow My Tears or The Woods so Wild, variations on themes such as O, gloriosa Domina or Conde Claros; fantasias, which is one of the most famous polyphonic musical genre of the time, and Renaissance dances. The program also includes a new guitar transcription made by Costin Soare for the song Non accedat ad te malum, an arrangement by Valentin Bakfark, inspired by Psalm 90 by one of the greatest Renaissance composers, Josquin des Prés.
Costin Soare is one of the most appreciated and active Romanian musicians, combining an intense concert career with a teaching career (professor at C.N.A. "Dinu Lipatti", Bucharest, PhD associate at UNMB/2002–2023), being also director artistic of the "Guitar Evenings" International Festival, a successful project in which top guitarists from all over the world perform.
With an experience of 13 international tours (as a soloist or with musicians such as flautist Ion Bogdan Ştefănescu, violinist Valentin Şerban, violist Marius Ungureanu, mezzo-soprano Claudia Codreanu, actor Ionel Barac, or guitarist Ioan Bănescu), 3 solo CDs, "Nocturne and dances" (2014), "Mirrors" (2020), "Invisible cities and imaginary beings" – Contemporary Romanian music for the guitar (2021) and one chamber registration "Twenty Shades of Music" (2017; with Ion Bogdan Ştefănescu), with over 250 concerts held in the country and abroad, the musician-guitarist Costin Soare is a tireless promoter of classical music through an instrument whose intimate voice and repertoire are appreciated by the general public.
The concert is sponsored by the Bethlen Gábor Fund, by the Cinema Csíki Mozi and the Ciuc Chamber Orchestra Association.
Adult tickets cost 20 lei, children's and senior tickets 10 lei, which can be purchased through the website www.bileta.ro or at the ticket office of the Cinema Csíki Mozi.
