André Ferenc: One Hundred and Twenty Winters of Creaking Cold

Last year, on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Poetry, we presented a poetry evening featuring performances from André Ferenc’s volume of the same title, brought to life by actors together with the poet himself. Due to the strong interest, the performance is now being staged once again.

In his new volume, André Ferenc writes poems addressed to Attila József—who was born 120 years ago—by assuming the voices of various poets while still preserving his own distinctive tone. Through these poems, and thus through the performance as well, we gain insight into how poets such as Miklós Radnóti, Ágnes Nemes Nagy, János Pilinszky, Anna Szabó T., or Zoltán Beck might address József Attila.
