33rd Carnival Send-off in Harghita County

The Carnival Send-off is an event where we present one of our most cheerful and spectacular traditions. We have been organizing this event since 1993. The participants are the folk groups of the villages where the tradition of the Carnival Send-off is still living or where it has been renewed.

The event takes place on Saturday before Fat Tuesday. The location changes each year and the event is always hosted by a different group. It attracts a great number of audience, interested in this joyful, happy Carnival that takes place all day long.

The event offers a great opportunity as well as a common ground of research for scientists, folklorists and anthropologists.

11.00  Opening ceremony – In front of Balás Gábor Cultural House 

11.30  Groups set off on designated routes 

14.00  Collective dance – Street section in front of the Central Community House
