About

The Father is a deeply personal, yet urgent social story, drawn with empathy and gentle humor, exploring the themes of family and aging. The world is shown through the perspective of a man living with dementia, while it tells a story that is universally shared by all of us: our anxieties about the passage of time, the workings of memory, "loving well," caregiving, and its crisis. It is a sensitive depiction of the challenges and possibilities of home care, the emotionally testing and uplifting moments, its fragile balance. Ultimately, it is about what makes us human.

Florian Zeller's play The Father won the Molière Award for Best Play in 2014, one of the most prestigious awards in French theatre. Since its debut, it has been successfully performed in numerous countries around the world. The 2020 film adaptation of the play, which starred Anthony Hopkins, won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor.

The performance will be in Hungarian with Romanian subtitles.
