About

For the Kaláka band, there has been no concert without a Kányádi poem set to music since the 1980s. "Uncle Sándor" became a defining paternal friend in their lives. He suggested poems to be turned into songs, traveled with them extensively, and left behind countless memories, sayings, and stories.
Elveszett követ (Lost Pebble), Faragott versike (Chiseled Rhyme), Valaki jár a fák hegyén (Someone Walks on the Treetops), Under the Southern Cross, Two Poplars, Ballad of the Red Tram, Apple, Apple – the list of beloved poems and songs goes on.
As Kaláka entered its 50th anniversary year, the ensemble decided to create a special performance with Zsolt Bogdán, the renowned actor from Cluj-Napoca, known in Hungary for his film roles and stage performances (including his acclaimed Ady program). The show was presented at the Vigadó in Budapest and the Hungarian State Theatre in Cluj-Napoca.
This is a staged, musical literary evening dedicated to one of the greatest Hungarian poets of the turn of the millennium, Sándor Kányádi.
The evening is directed and curated by Katalin Kőváry.
