City Day Opening Concert

As in the previous years, this year's City Days will be traditionally opened by the Csik Chamber Orchestra. Their programme, traditionally scheduled for the St. Augustine Parish Church, is composed of 18th Century classical works. 

The soloist and conductor of the evening will be the world-famous Russian cellist Denis Shapovalov, who is returning to the orchestra several times.

Denis Shapovalov is now one of the world's most famous cellists and a regular guest of Europe's leading orchestras. Born in 1974 in the town of Tchaikovsky, near the Urals, Shapovalov graduated in 2000 from the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, where he was later cello teacher for twelve years. The concert is supported by the Mayor's Office of the City of Miercurea Ciuc. Tickets for the concert are available on the spot for 20 lei for adults and 15 lei for students and pensioners.
